THERE’S a new taste sensation in Commercial Arcade. From freshly baked bread and cakes through to superb quality coffee, Avocado’s is the new place to go.
The ethos behind the cafe is simple – buy local where possible, serve the highest quality coffee, and bake fresh every day on the premises.
The cakes are a treat for the eye as well as the taste buds. Warm pastries for breakfast, macarons topped with gold leaf, chunky cookies and various cakes such as coffee and chocolate are temptingly displayed. The chef makes different cakes each week, so the menu is constantly changing.
Bread is baked daily and the filled rolls in the chiller offer a range of combinations with a Mediterranean flavour. If you can’t find one to your exact preference, then staff will make one up for you. No butteror sauces are on the prepared rolls, but the friendly and experienced staff will ask you what you want. So no worries for those suffering from food intolerances.
‘Service with a smile’ is easy to say, but at Avocado’s it’s true. It’s small and friendly and you can take out or eat in, perched on the comfy bar stools inside. A licence for al fresco dining hasbeen applied for, so hopefully a table and a couple of chairs outside will shortly be in place.
A lot of thought has gone into the cafe, and all the plastic containers for the freshly made salads are recyclable, as are the coffee cups and utensils.
It’s ideally located for popping in on the way to work to pick up a fresh pastry and a coffee, or to add some variety to the lunchtime sandwich. Or just relax over a cup of tea and a tasty cake and watch the world go by.
